EXTENSION: Nominations for Canadian Designers Extended to Friday, June 12th at 5:00 pm EST

Canada's largest annual theatre arts award, the 2009 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre will be given to a professional designer who advances Canadian theatre through a body of work achieved in recent years, while influencing and inspiring younger theatre artists. Nominations have been extended from Wednesday, June 3rd to Friday, June 12th at 5:00 pm.

Jury Named for the Largest Prize in Canadian Theatre – The 2009 Siminovitch Prize

TORONTO, May 20, 2009 – BMO Financial Group today announced the members of the jury for the 2009 Elinore & Lou Siminovitch Prize in Theatre. The distinguished panel of theatre experts will select this year’s recipient of the $100,000 prize – the largest prize in Canadian theatre.

Call For Nominations Now Open for Canadian Designers

Maureen Labonté Appointed next Siminovitch Prize in Theatre Jury Chair

Chosen for her extensive experience working in both the French and English theatre communities, Montreal-based translator and dramaturge, Maureen Labonté will be the next Jury Chair of the Elinore & Lou Siminovitch Prize in Theatre.

$100,000 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre Awarded to Toronto Playwright, Daniel MacIvor

BMO Financial Group announced that Toronto playwright Daniel MacIvor was named the 2008 recipient of the Elinore & Lou Siminovitch Prize in Theatre, Canada's largest annual theatre award. MacIvor was chosen from a short list of five finalists including Morwyn Brebner (Toronto, ON); Daniel Danis (St-David de Falardeau, QC); Colleen Murphy (Toronto, ON); and Larry Tremblay (Montreal, QC). They were selected from 26 nominated Canadian playwrights.
