Lorsqu\u2019elle a gagn\u00e9 le prix Siminovitch, la dramaturge montr\u00e9alaise Carole Fr\u00e9chette avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9crit plus de huit pi\u00e8ces, la plupart ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9es au cours des cinq derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. En faisant conna\u00eetre leur choix, les membres du jury ont d\u00e9crit Mme Fr\u00e9chette comme une artiste \u00ab en pleine possession de ses moyens et au sommet de sa forme \u00bb, et ont exprim\u00e9 le voeu que les Canadiens puissent \u00ab d\u00e9couvrir et appr\u00e9cier \u00bb cette dramaturge. \u00ab De fa\u00e7on subtile et renversante, elle fait appel aux aspects profonds du th\u00e9\u00e2tre pour explorer la part de myst\u00e8re de la vie quotidienne, a indiqu\u00e9 le jury. Ses pi\u00e8ces concilient le connu et l\u2019inconnu, l\u2019accessible et l\u2019exotique, mariage qui est la marque du grand art.\u00bb\u00a0<\/p>

Les pi\u00e8ces de Mme Fr\u00e9chette figurent parmi celles qui ont connu le plus de succ\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger.
