Rachel Ditor is a dramaturg, director, and the literary manager of the Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver. Rachel manages the commissioning and development of new plays for the company, the LEAP program for teen playwrights, a dramaturgy internship program with the University of British Columbia, production dramaturgy, and the ReACT public play reading series. Under her guidance the company has produced 100% of the new plays commissioned. She has worked as a dramaturg on new plays with companies across Canada including the National Arts Centre and the Banff Playwrights Colony where she was a faculty dramaturg. She has published articles on new play dramaturgy, teaches dramaturgy at UBC, and is a board member of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas.
As a freelance director some of her favourite credits include: Romeo and Juliet (Mount Royal Shakespeare Company); Apple (Touchstone Theatre), Snakes and Ladders in Rare Earth Arias (Urban Ink); Hippies and Bolsheviks (Alberta Theatre Projects), Tiger of Malaya, Here On The Flight Path, and Fly Fisher’s Companion (Gateway Theatre), All’s Well That Ends Well, The Merchant of Venice and Elizabeth Rex (Bard on the Beach); The Matka King, The Optimists, Doubt, The Philanderer, The Diary of Anne Frank, and most recently Other Desert Cities (Arts Club Theatre).
