Soheil Parsa is an Iranian Canadian theatre artist based in Toronto, celebrated for his innovative contributions to contemporary performance. Born in Iran, he left the country after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1984. He is the co-founder and former artistic director of Modern Times Stage Company, where over more than three decades he developed a body of work known for its visual rigor, cultural hybridity, and philosophical depth. Since 1989, Soheil has directed more than fifty productions in Canada and internationally. His work has been recognized with eight Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award, the Canadian Association for Theatre Research Honorary Member Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. He was short-listed for the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre in 2007 and 2010. Selected past productions include Blood Wedding, The House of Bernarda Alba, The Chairs, The Cherry Orchard, Waiting for Godot, Macbeth, Hamlet, David Paquet’s Wildfire, Daniel MacIvor’s Monster, and Guillermo Verdecchia’s Feast.
