danjelani ellis is an artist and artsworker from Jamaica. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and alumnus of the Playwrights Unit at Obsidian Theatre Company and Emerging Creators Unit at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. He is a recipient of 3 Dora Award nominations, a Merritt Award nomination for outstanding performance in a featured role and the Siminovitch Theatre Foundation Emerging Artist grant for playwriting. At CARIFESTA XIV, the Caribbean’s foremost festival of arts and culture, ellis represented Canada with his solo show speaking of sneaking.
He is the Artistic Producer at Obsidian Theatre Company. He also steers ad-hoc entity Groundwork Redux - an ever-evolving gathering of artists and projects - creating original art, performance, and community activations. www.groundworkredux.com
