Leanna Brodie is an award-winning playwright and performer whose nationally-produced plays include Salesman in China (co-written with Jovanni Sy) The Vic, For Home and Country, The Book of Esther, and Schoolhouse. She is also a leading translator of contemporary Québécois and Franco-Canadian playwrights. Recent productions: David Paquet’s Wildfire (Factory Theatre, Toronto ON) as well as The Shoe and The Weight of Ants (The Cherry Arts, Ithaca NY); Catherine Léger’s I Lost My Husband! and Home Deliveries (Ruby Slippers Theatre, Vancouver BC); Fanny Britt’s Benevolence (GCTC, Ottawa ON); and Rébecca Déraspe’s I Am William (Stratford Festival and Théâtre le Clou). Brodie has her MFA from the University of Calagry, has served as Assistant Professor (Playwriting) at UBC’s School of Creative Writing, and taught at Concordia University. Salesman in China premiered in 2024 at the Stratford Festival/NAC, and is part of the 2027 Mirvish season at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
